Where It All Began
Our story began in 2014, not with a chocolate bar, but with a vision. A strategic plan laid the groundwork, fueled by personal conviction, resilience, and the dream of creating something truly meaningful. We didn't rush. Step by step, idea by idea, we began shaping a product that today carries not only flavor, but purpose and identity.
Villakuyaya was born from a desire to do things differently—honoring the land, the people, and the legacy of Ecuador's most precious cacao: Cacao Arriba Nacional. Rooted in the lush region of Esmeraldas, along Ecuador’s north Pacific coast, we partnered with smallholder farmers whose deep connection to the land brings out the most floral and fruity cacao beans in the country.
From the beginning, sustainability was not an afterthought—it was the foundation. We knew that in order to protect what makes this cacao so special, we needed to support the farmers, preserve the ecosystem, and work with integrity at every level of production. Each of our dark chocolate bars is the result of this holistic approach: celebrating the raw beauty of the beans while embracing exotic inclusions that elevate the experience.
Our journey is more than the story of a chocolate brand. It's about community, heritage, and the pursuit of excellence. Every decision we make—every ingredient we select, every certification we pursue—is guided by a shared commitment to quality, transparency, and positive impact.

Led by a woman chocolatier and supported by a family legacy, our team bridges tradition with innovation. We believe real chocolate is not just a treat—it’s a story, a connection, and a ritual.
