Our cacao cups were first created in 2010 by Natalia Espinosa, inspired by the chilly afternoons of Quito, Ecuador, when she would serve hot chocolate to her students.
She imagined a cup without handles, one you could cradle in both hands to feel its warmth. Its textured exterior was designed to complement the sensory experience of cacao prepared with water.
Handmade and hand-glazed, each cup is fired at a high temperature to vitrify the clay, making it strong and durable. Subtle variations in shape and color reflect the individual making of each piece.
Born during a renewed celebration of Ecuadorian cacao and chocolate, these cups have accompanied that story for more than fifteen years, bringing warmth, texture, and craft to every pour.
